There are great things happening in Connecticut's Senior Centers. Each year we recognize programs and activities that stand out. Our awards, announced at the Annual Meeting in the spring, are based on self-nomination and selected by a committee of peers. All submissions are shared with all members.

The award application will be available in the Spring. It will look something like this.
CASCP Program Award Categories
Special Events: Programs that are designed as a one -time event that promotes the well being of seniors. Examples include- intergenerational, musical, artistic, thematic, seasonal, patriotic programs.
Marketing/ Fundraising: Programs and activities designed to promote the senior center within the community and/or that promote a positive image of aging and programs designed to raise income for the senior center. Nutrition, Fitness and Health Promotion: Programs that are designed to improve the physical well being of seniors and/or designed to improve the general health of seniors through health related programs, lectures and screenings. Programs that are evidence based are especially encouraged. Recreation/Leisure/Social: Programs that promote the physical, emotional and social well being of older adults through recreation and leisure opportunities.
Educational: Programs designed to educate seniors. Examples may include new and unique classes, technology, legislative or literary programs. Nutrition and health promotion activities will not be considered in this category.
Leadership, Civic Engagement and Volunteer Development: Efforts established to increase community involvement through creative programs instituted to develop strong leaders and volunteers, programs and policies developed to promote dynamic volunteer development and/or management.
Expressive and Creative Arts: Programs and activities that promote creativity and personal expression such as drama, dance, music or visual arts. Collaboration and Community: Programs that increase community involvement in the Senior Center; partnerships and collaborative efforts that strengthen Senior Center programs. Outreach and Support: Programs that provide education, access or actual delivery of supportive services to older adults. (e.g. social services, information and referral, chore assistance etc.) Partnership Award: A special award given to a person, group of people or organization that has worked as a partner with Connecticut senior centers or assists in the promotion of senior centers in the community who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of Connecticut older adults by building capacity in senior centers through:
- Monetary or other gifts
- Volunteer hours
- Support of the senior center mission through advocacy
- Promoting the services provided by senior centers
Intergenerational: Programs that benefit children and/or younger adults and senior and may offer interaction between children and/or younger adults and seniors.
